The vision is coming… this is a foundational text that has put people on! One thing about me, I can see things that aren’t there, but should be. I have the discipline to do the work and bring an idea to fruition. One of the challenges with academia is that it is space that thinks it is innovative, but in many ways is far from it. I am like water, may my journey allow for alignment and enable me to meet with innovative, authentic minds to build what truly matters.

A nice surprise today. I was awarded @hwd.fitness

A nice surprise today. I was awarded @hwd.fitness member of the month! Was completely unexpected. I didn’t even know it was a thing, but that’s the thing, be your authentic self and it resonates where it is valued. I was awarded this for my consistency, but also being welcoming to new members and being patient with newcomers, particularly in boxing class. I am an empath. I also understand and feel that it takes courage to start/resume your fitness journey, and it can trigger insecurities in those brave enough to step through the door. One wrong turn or interaction can ruin the brave decision a person makes to step through the door and take a chance on themselves. I also know that not everyone has the Rottweiler determination I have, so I’m always willing to give to and encourage people who take a chance on themselves, because it can help people to stick it out whilst their self belief kicks in! I have enough energy to give for that. I am a teacher, so I use these skills to help people find their rhythm and work at their pace. See, I really enjoy seeing people experience/grasp something, or be/feel validated, especially when I see them being open or trying/searching for it and feel good/seen afterwards. With other things going on at the moment around vibrational mismatches my empathic nature detects, this was both a surprise and a reminder to be my authentic self, excel and shine in the things that I do naturally. No one can take, shape or forcibly mold me to be anything other than who I am. No one has the power to invalidate me to satisfy their ego. Get with the program or get on! I’m good with who I am and I am undeniable! Oh and shout out to my coaches and HWD for choosing the most flattering picture! 🤣 At least it shows I do put in that work.

I am so grateful. I have gone from being misunders

I am so grateful. I have gone from being misunderstood to deeply appreciated on this journey. I am an acquired taste. There is a certain level you need to reach in order for what I do to make sense. But, when you get there, my work is waiting. The beauty of this journey has been the gift of discernment and believing in the culture and cultural capital I’m connected to, because even now - along this journey, I still have battles, encounter disrespect, invalidation and infantilisation. I will continue to lead with integrity, love and a sense of justice. This is why I do what I do.

I love this for them!

The PhD journey isn’t easy. I had key support but most people didn’t get it at the time. I’m moved by what I KNOW has value because it moved me enough to care in the first place. I made something that could help others in this lane. So they can use it and build. It is so rewarding to see how it helps others. How it can be used to help others tell their truth and express their thoughts and perspectives. Come with the right energy and I do my best to make time. I understand it is isolating. It takes mental strength to do a PhD, even more so to research something few (or no one else) can see, understand or see the value in. In this lane, many do not understand what you are trying to say or do. As another newly minted Dr. told me, I am an intellectual midwife, having birthed a new way to articulate a consciousness that was always there.

The work I do it motivated my love, justice and integrity. Despite the hardships and challenges I face, compounded by my social coordinates as a Black Woman who is authentically myself, these principles help me win. Regardless of those who come against me.

Can’t always be show ready. Doing what I can for phase two. Some parts of the super leanness I miss, other parts I’m happy to see the back of. Time to maintain, sculpt and shape. I think I know my sweet spot for body fat out of season now, so will maintain that going forward. Looking forward to seeing all the hard work on display when it is time to cut!

Mi d’weet fi de love me nuh d’weet fi de likes… Black British culture should take up space, in a variety of places! Especially as it is a dominant force in British culture and beyond. I love that there are people who appreciate my work. That is what it is for and always has been for. Each work is a building block of correction and visibility in a sea of erasure! This is one of my ways to contribute to the collective (we all do different things). As always, I hope my work inspires others to do the things that bring them joy, the hard things that benefit a collective and empower others. My mantra continues to be justice, integrity and love and it guides my work choices and decisions.
